Design  Rooted in Place

I’m Hillary Roedell, the designer and illustrator behind Maypop Design. Inspired by my home—the wild heart of Florida—I create thoughtful, strategic visuals that celebrate our natural ecosystems. For me, design is not just about creating something beautiful, but about telling stories that connect people more deeply to the places they inhabit.

Much of my inspiration comes from observing the plants, wildlife, and shifting landscapes that define Florida. I see design as a way to translate these natural rhythms into visual language—whether through illustration, branding, or storytelling. Each project is an opportunity to honor the uniqueness of a place, to highlight the relationships between people and their environment, and to create work that feels both grounded and alive.

I am especially drawn to collaborations with organizations and communities who share a mission to uplift and protect the landscapes we call home. Together, we can craft design that is not only functional and strategic, but also meaningful, purposeful, and rooted in care for the world around us.
